We have stake conference this afternoon (our ward is a permanent 9:00 am), so the boys and I did a little Sunday morning baking. Bennett and Eli both love being in the kitchen with me, but typically it just doesn't work. They fight over who gets to scoop and dump which leads to pushing and shoving which inevitably leads to one of them falling off a chair. If by some miracle they're not fighting, then Eli is climbing up on the counter to grab knives or spoon out the already-mixed ingredients, or Bennett is refusing to help with vegetables he doesn't like. You get the idea.Full of Sabbath morning hope, I generously forgave all past cooking sins and let them make coffee cake with me today. They started out pretty well, taking turns and listening to instructions, and then of course they turned to their old ways--flinging flour, dumping water, ignoring me, and fighting over the kitchen sink. So much for redemption. . . Oh well, at least no one fell off a chair. And at least they look pretty darn cute doing it.
