Birthday Party Roundup

Both boys had friend parties this year.

Bennett celebrated with eight friends at Golfland,
and while we'd been a bit nervous about rain at the end of October,
the weather gods smiled upon us.

You've never seen such a fast game of miniature golf.
These boys wanted to win.
Quickly.
Gotta love the competitive spirit of eight-year-old boys :)

Hit me with your best shot!

Not a lot of low stroke counts with this group

But like I said, they were in a hurry so they didn't seem to mind

This is about the only kind of hole-in-one that we saw that day

We did see a lot of big swings, however

You can't go wrong with boys and pizza

Costco saves me yet again

Arcade time

Tickets, tickets, always earning more tickets

Captain Eli requested a party at his "own house,"
something he's never had.
(that's what happens when you're born a week before Christmas)

Eli = the winter baby
who should have been born in the summer.

His party requests:
a pinata
(he's been asking for one of these for years)
an ice cream cake
watermelon
a backyard scavenger hunt
outdoor painting

Um, yeah, those last two didn't happen.
But we did deliver on the others.
And once again, we lucked out with the weather:
no rain!

That meant the kids could not only hit the pinata outside,
but also have a grand time riding bikes and scooters while playing out back.

"Pig-nosed Luigi" as the kids called him

I'm not sure why he needs to hold a soccer ball, but whatever

Moving inside for presents

A rare break in Eli's new toy concentration

Aunt Andrea's famous Mint-chocolate Oreo Ice Cream Cake

Nothing like ice cream cake in cold, wet December!

That cake IS so easy and good! This is his second year of requesting that specific cake, "the one from family reunions." :) Thanks for reading, you two.

I never even think of having it for a birthday, but it totally is an easy ice cream cake. You are SO good about your blog. :sigh: One day I will follow your example.
