A little ray of Solana

It's appropriate that her name means "sunshine" in Spanish, because my nine year-old niece Solana definitely brightened up our week by staying with us. The boys were so happy to have a fun cousin to play with them, Millie was spoiled, spoiled, spoiled with lots of love and attention, and I was thankful as could be to have such a willing mommy's helper in the house.

Moments of nostalgia and that funny full circle kind of feeling crept in, however. It was strange to watch Solana feed, change and take care of my baby, when I can still remember feeding, changing and taking care of her! It brought back good memories of visiting Chico and playing mommy to Solana and her three older sisters/brother while her parents went out of town for a week. My sister and I look enough alike that by the time Jana came back in town, little one year old Solana was genuinely confused at which of us was her mom.
